Dominique Bretodeau is an agent of French Secret Services. He takes his job perhaps too seriously, and has a tendency to take every minor setback as a personal failure. Short-tempered, Dominique is very hot-headed and easy to go off, despite his attempts to be a "calm, cool, and collected" type of person. This is especially true if one accidentally (or purposefully) mispronounces his name.

- Dominique's name is the second reference to the 2001 film, Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain (Released as "Amelie" in the United States). The first being Amelie Garou's name, who is a reference to the film's namesake and protagonist. Dominique's name, however, is a reference to a minor character in the film named "Dominique Bretodeau", whom Amelie tries to search for in one subplot.
- The running gag in which Dominique's name is continuously mispronounced yet another reference to the film, as the protagonist mistook "Bretodeau" for "Bredodeau", which threw off her search.
- Dominique is based on several characters: Nobuchika Ginoza (Psycho-Pass), Kyouya Ootori (Ouran High School Host Club), Shiro Iori (Kill la Kill), and most importantly, Squidward Tentacles from Spongebob Squarepants.
